Throughout the day, AAPI Texans will be meeting with state legislators in their offices and holding a press conference with cultural (Korean drumming and Garba dancing) performances on the Southwest Lawn. AAPI Texans, including community members who are of Pacific Islander, Southeast Asian, South Asian, West Asian, Central Asian, and East Asian descent, have come together as TAAC to advocate for our needs and concerns. This advocacy comes at a critical time when some politicians are proposing xenophobic legislation SB 147, SB 711 and SB 552 to divide communities of color and distract us from uniting for the shared resources we need to thrive.
