On March 30, 2019 an ad hoc group of 50+ people will make a pilgrimage from across the country to the former site of the Crystal City Family Internment Camp where innocent people of Japanese ancestry were held for indefinite detention during WWII. More than 4,000 men, women, and children were incarcerated as a result of racism, wartime hysteria, and the failure of political leadership. The pilgrimage will honor all who suffered the long-term social, economic, and psychological consequences of unjust incarceration. We will hold in our hearts, gratitude for the strength and resilience that has been passed on to us.
