  • Harmony Public Schools, 9321 W Sam Houston Pkwy S, Houston, Texas 77099

Join us for this month's TEA Talk as we discuss Asian American and Pacific Islander representation in media.

In light of the recent efforts of Asian American actors and actresses to achieve more visibility in Hollywood (#starringJohnCho #starringConstanceWu), we'd like to invite you to discuss the whitewashing of Asian and Asian-American roles in Western media and how we can address this together.

Guest Speaker: Sharad Patel

Sharad Kant Patel has previously been awarded and screened short films at SXSW and Raindance. Once, in 2nd grade, he transformed his bedroom closet into a stage and performed a carefully planned magic show. He considers “Somebody’s Darling”, his first feature film, to be his latest greatest magic show.

We will be serving FREE FOOD for everyone!!

Be sure to join us afterwards for the 12th Annual HAAPI Film Festival at Harmony Public Schools!

We will be live tweeting during the event! Be sure to follow us @ocahouston! Don't forget to use #TEATalks for questions/comments!
